GPS

Jason and I have been hunting for a GPS off and on. I consulted with our hiking expert about what to look for. Although I didn't exactly follow his comments there was a reason for it. Jason and I was able to find a nice model with an altimeter on it for the price of the cheapest GPS. I love it when companies discontinue items. (our camera was cheap because it was discontinued) Anyway, we purchased a Garmin Etrex Vista C. I can't wait until it arrives. We got such a good deal on it.

The reason I did not follow Jacobs advise is because I really wanted the altimeter. In the ADK's you cannot camp above 4,000ft. Now how in the world do you know how high you are? So, we figured it would be best to have one.

I can't wait to test it out. We need to really learn it before our trailess adventure in the ADK's in May.

It is part of the landscape now and birds perch on it constantly, including Kingfishers.
