Sam the Q'ing Queen
If you can believe my title it's so very true. Sam beat all the shelties this weekend at the DOCNA trial. Woo Hoo for Sam 3 great Q's. Since I'm exhausted I'll keep this short and sweet.
Helped Jacqui (I'll get your name spelled right one of these days. Am I right?) load up the trial equipment and take it to the fairgrounds on Thursday.
Friday we hooked up the Doggie Motel to the Fur X Fur Jeep. I took a 1/2 day so I could help set up the trial.
Friday evening: Show N Go. It was fun. Only about 20 or so dogs but we ran Gamblers and Snakes and Ladders
Saturday morning up at 5:45 to get the kids pottied and ready to set up the course for the trial. Tay was nervous on Saturday but stayed in the ring and did well on all her runs. All 6 that is. (Yep, 6 instead of our normal 2). She Q'd in jumpers. Chase missed all her contacts and received a lot of Whoa's when doing so. She had a beautiful jumpers run with a Q.
On Sunday Jason woke me up 1 hour earlier than needed. I think he felt really bad for doing so (testing out the alarm at 5:30 to see if it worked, bad idea). So, he ended up taking all the kids potty without me having to ask. I think he knew I was really mad though! :-) Still love you baby! Sam was the first up. She had a little flirtation time with Jynx, the new love of her life, so I think she was a little wound up before running. I say this because she left the start like and ran around the ring as fast as she could. I'm not kidding either. Then she ran out of the ring hunting for something to kill. Then back into the ring for more laps. The judge asked me if I could get her to sit or down. I told her I didn't know because she had never did this before EVER! I totally wished I had it on tape. Friends in MS, you wouldn't believe what you would have saw. After words she was so worked up it was time to drink a LOT of water. Chase missed those dreaded contacts again. Tay Q'd. Now onto my new FAVORITE event Trigility. We competed with each of our dogs in the same ring. Kind of a relay race. Jay ran Taylor on the Standard course, I ran Sam on the jumpers and Jacqui ran Chase. Poor Chase didn't know what to do. She ran with Jacqui, then she ran to me wondering why I was just standing their. I ignored her and Jacqui got her back. Then out of the tunnel over a jump and back to her mommy. It was the cutest thing ever. She just loves me too much I guess. Thank you Jacqui for running her. I really appreciate it. We didn't Q but it was the best and the funnest run I think I have ever did. I came out of the ring, dogs in hand and got all kinds of loving and gave it all back!
Anyway, that was our great weekend. DOCNA is awesome and I can't wait to compete again. Even though I ran a total of 12 runs each day I had the best time.
Thanks to Jacqui again for running Chase and for hosting the DOCNA trial. I cannot wait for our next trial in July!
As for the dogs.............Each one of them crashed on the floor when we got home and have been asleep since!

One Hiking Dog in Training
This weekend Jason and I headed out to our favorite hiking spot for a new challenge, our longest hike yet. We decided to get up really early Saturday morning and attempt the 7.2 mile hike around the falls trail at Ricketts Glen State Park. Along for the ride was our veteran hiking dog Kenzie and our hiking dog in training, Taylor. Now most of you do not know I've been having problems with my hips lately but I still told Jason I wanted to try it out. It's the most difficult trail at the park and has around 30+ waterfalls. We started out at 9:20am, not too early. It was going to be a fabulous day with sunny skies and a high of 70. Things had changed a bit since our last hike at Ricketts. NO SNOW! So I was able to see a lot of the ground and the flowers, etc starting to bloom. Jason took his camera and we planned on taking tons of photos. When we arrived at the second set of falls it totally looked different from the last time we saw it. Here's the falls back in March.

When we reached where the two rivers meet we had to decide which direction to head. Since we're both left handed of course we chose to go left :-). The falls were stunning and the rivers were running quite quickly. Actually Taylor got into the water at one point, slipped and started to get carried away. So she thought, we had her on leash :-). Here's some photos of some of the other falls:
While sitting on a rock at the falls directly above I was able to shoot my favorite photo of Jason.....I was so excited and it turned out perfect and not blurry (which is one of my photo taking problems). Aren't they so cute?
Now by the time we reached the 3rd trail at the ridge line poor Taylor was starting to slow down. The ridgeline hike was 1.2 miles and totally welcoming. I say welcoming because the falls trail is straight up jagged slippery rocks the WHOLE way. So we was able to hike on somewhat level ground. Once we reached the second branch of the falls trail we started our way down. By this point the trails were crowded and not that enjoyable. We still enjoyed seeing the falls though. After about 5 miles it was time to find a shady spot to have lunch at and rest. I pulled out my butterfinger granola bars and Jason his trail mix. Both Tay and Kenzie was treated to some doggie bones and we just laid back and relaxed. Taylor was so tired I was able to shoot this cute picture. (the photo was blurry but still cute)
Finally at 2:30 we reached the car. My legs were jelly and the kids were exhausted. What a wonderful day hike though. BEAUTIFUL! It's so hard to believe that we live here.

Dearly beloved we are gathered here today to say farewell to a good friend. "KC" the bird has passed and will be dearly missed. We have fond memories of good ol' KC. Him Sqawking at Carie, Sam trying to eat him, and KC taking cover under Chris's shirt with his little head sticking out the top.

Living Green
A few weeks ago Jason and I watched the Al Gore documentary called An Inconvenient Truth. Now Jason and I are both not Al Gore fans but we wanted to see what he had to say about Global Warming. After watching the movie we both decided to start doing our part and helping the environment. So far our changes have been: carpooling almost every day after work, changing our light bulbs in the house to the new energy saving light bulbs and purchasing a non gas push mower. We're also going to try to find a local place to recycle. We're both very excited about this new way of life and the efforts of many others to help the environment. I highly recommend watching the documentary, even if you do not like Al Gore (mom) and hear what he has to say. Some of the photos have are amazing. For instance one of the places on our list to visit in the US Glacier National Park. He showed photos of how the parks glaciers are diappearing. He also mentioned one of the most beautiful bears, the polar bear, is now having to swim a lot farther looking for an iceberg to rest on. He even mentioned they are now finding some polar bears are drowning.
Anyway, please watch and I hope you'll do your part is saving the environment.
Now, what have we been up to lately? Well lots and lots of projects. We've been debating for quite some time as to what kind of deck we had planned on building. After our post hole digging incident we decided not to build a deck but we would try to have concrete poured. Now the cost was not bad at all but Jason and I still was not satisfied with the final look of the backyard. So, after tons of planning and discussing we decided to create a paver patio. We're both very excited and can't wait to see the patio once it's finished. So this weekend we started demolition of our existing concrete pad. Jason purchased a sledge hammer and went to work early Saturday morning. You all know me, I always have to try things as well. So, I gave the sledge hammer a few swings and it brought a smile to myself. The whole time I was singing the song "Break Stuff" and thinking how much fun destroying things is :-) he he he. Anyway, I turned the sledge hammer over to Jason after a few swings of my own and decided I would work the slate bar and let him rest after he bashed up portions of the patio. While holding the slate bar I started thinking about one of my favorite old cartoons as a kid "He Man". Yes girls, you heard it, I watched He Man and really enjoyed it. I'm such a Tom Boy. Anyway, so I'm posting some of my He Man photos. I think I kind of look like him. But, without the blond hair. I have his muscles though :-)
I had to leave Jason early to head off to my first softball practice with the church. Anyone ever heard of modified pitch? Well it's not slow pitch and it's not fast over hand pitch but it's fast underhand pitch. It's wild. The strike zone is way low which was really hard for me to get used to. Anyway, I ended up hurting myself and hurting my shoulder so I'm hoping I will not have any more physical therapy. Pray for me.

Today we fought the mountain and the mountain won. Let me explain. This weekend was suppose to be fence building weekend. We liked our fence back in MS so much we had planned on building it again here in PA. Boy did our plans change drastically. We had heard that PA was the big rocky and heard horror stories of people trying to dig in the dirt here. I just prayed it would be easier for us. So, we woke up early this morning and headed to Home Depot to rent a post hole digger. We brought it home and started working right away. Come 11:30 we had only completed 1 hole. That's digging just 2 feet deep to get below frost line. So, we decided that the mountain won and we would just put up a horse fence instead. Granted it wasn't the first thing I had in mind. Actually, I really didn't want to use a horse fence but we really do not have any choice. We're going to call some fence companies that have the big hole digging equipment and see how much they would charge to dig just 35 posts. If it's an ungodly amount due to the work thats involved we'll just call the fence quits. Oh by the way, I did something very redneck today. While digging the holes I was pulling out the rock with my bare hands. I cut myself on one of the rocks and my finger started to bleed. So instead of going inside to get a bandaid I used mud to clot the bleeding. I called it a mud bandaid :-)
This weekend also changed our plans for our deck. We had planned on digging footers for the deck and sinking them in concrete however we will not be doing that anymore. So, we're going to use those concrete blocks and make a free standing deck.
On the flip side today was the most beautiful day we've had here in PA so far. Tomorrow is suppose to be even nicer. We're planning on heading to Ricketts again for a hiking trip.

The Life of An Agility Dog Star!
Well we headed for Harrisburg on Friday for our dog show. It was our first outdoors show and it was quite nice. We arrived around 7:00pm with our new Dog Motel and Jacquie and her mom came to help us set up. It was so exciting to finally have a place to stay and hang out while at our dog shows. We ended up going to sleep around 10:00 because by that time the both of us was so tired. Well for our first night in our camper I was VERY cold. Jason was paranoid about carbon monoxide poisoning and had me all paranoid so I kept the heat down so the both of us and our furkids wouldn't die in our sleep. PARANOID, yes I know. The first night in new places is always hard for Tay so she was up until around 1:00 barking. After she went to sleep though we crashed. Our new camper is so comfortable.
So, Dog Show Day 1. Here's the schedule. Get up, 6:30am, take the furkids potty and head up to the check in to get our little number stickers. After that, pick up our course maps. Then it's time to wait while they set up the course and prepare it so you can walk. Now, it's 7:30 and it's time to walk the course. First dog on the line at 8:00am. Now today while I was walking I was watching the other people and thinking, Man, we really look dorky walking around all these jumps pretending our dog is running with us and trying to figure out exactly what they are going to do. Oh look, front cross time, it's time to turn in a circle. Oh, next, rear cross time, time to wave our hand in the air and motion for our dog to go a different way. Ahh, so funny. I stopped and laughed to myself. Next, check in. Then about 10 dogs before it's time to run it's time to get your dog, take them potty again. Now it's time to wait in your line and think in your mind again exactly how we're going to run the course. Now you hear, next dog on the line. It's time for your run. Honestly, when you're running it's just you and your dog. Your both working together watching each others moves. Honestly, it's one of the best feeling in the world. Even though we didn't Q today I wouldn't have traded this day for anything else. I love spending the day hanging out with people who love their dogs, hanging out with my husband who loves agility and hanging out with my best friends in the world.
I found out that strong winds and snow/rain was heading our way overnight and several people were not coming back so we decided to also head home tonight and play it safe. I guess the governor declared PA in a State of Emergency. We did not want to get stuck in Harrisburg nor did we want to risk waiting on the snow to fall and have trouble getting our Dog Hotel up our steep driveway.
Check out some of our agility friends and the photos we took today. Doesn't the day look lovely? I was also told by the photographer at the show that Sam and I were very photogenic. Sam was whistled off the course today and I spotted her in the corner so I told Sam to pose and before we walked out of the ring we stopped just to get our photo taken :-) I can't wait to see the pictures. Here's the ones we took this weekend though.

Happy Birthday Tammy! I sure miss all our fun agility days and hanging out with you and Charlie and the furkids! Can't wait to see you guys again!
Congratulations to everyone who Q'd this weekend. Way to go on the double Q's for Faith, Q's for Simi with MACH points, Fosters Q's and titles, Baileys Open Q. Way to go Terry and Pebbles for your first Q in Excellent. Woo Hoo! I can't wait to hear the full report about the weekend from each of you.

Transformers.........
I'm SO EXCITED about the new Transformers movie coming in July. Wouldn't you know that our favorite 24 guy Aaron is in it? That like makes it 10 times better.

So today was a fun day. I woke up, played with the dogs, shaved Jason's head and then went to agility class. I was trying to write HI on Jason's head while shaving it but decided to do it way to far into the shaving. :-) He he he. Since Jason's sick I took all three of the hoodlums to class. Sam was wild, Chase tried to choke herself and after Tay went potty and I disposed of her droppings in a trash bag, she brought them to me. Ahh, crazy dogs. Since I have trouble breathing though I would run and bit and then talk to Jacquie. We've only know each other for about 3 months now but Jacquie is so cool. Another agility buddy!
I want to wish all my buddies in MS and TN good luck at the trial this weekend. Be sure to send a full report.

Stupid Quadratech Fun Agility
Let's begin by saying that I'm not very fond of Quadratech anymore. For those who do not know, Quadratech is a Jeep parts supplier. Back when Jason was in the accident in Memphis he ordered a part from Quadratech. After a month or so he called and they said it would be a few more weeks until the part came in. About a month later, he called again, same thing. It will be a few more weeks. So Jason called today and low and behold they no longer carry the part. So, Jason is without the Jeep part again and now we have to search for one. We haven't been able to drive his Jeep much because of it not being fixed. We're afraid he could get pulled over. Gurr......stupid Quadratech.

Welcome home Jacquie. I'm so happy to hear the Gy did an excellent job at Nationals. I begged and begged Jason to take me but he wouldn't. Fixing the house was more important. No fun isn't it? We did get a lot done on the house but I would have rather went to Nationals.
Tonight we worked on some agility in the yard. All the furkids did very well. Sam was wild and hard to control but then again, that's Sam :-)
I'm sitting here on the bed watching Chase chew on her stuffed sheep with a squeaker. She just loves that thing. I just love her too. She's so great. Taylor is chewing on the bed, Kenzie is trying to get stuff off the counter in the kitchen and Tasha is just being Tasha.

No Work, Just Play!
That was my day today. Today at work I honestly think I busted some blood vessels in my face from laughing so hard. My good buddy Liz is as crazy as me. If you can all beleive that. Well one of the ladies took a vacation day today without telling Liz, Donna and Rosalie. So Cheryl told Liz that something needed to be done. Well good ol' Liz came up with the best idea. Since Joan hates feet she decided to take a photo of several participates in our area and then photograph one of their feet. Then, we blew up the photos of the feet and the closeup of everyone's face and hung it on Joans cube. Now I took some photos but Jason forgot to email them to me so check back on Friday and those photos will be posted then :-)
Today I also worked on my Liz Doll for work. I put a lot of thought into decorating this keg just for Liz. It sits on top of my monitor at work! :-)
Finally, Jason and I have decided to skip out on Agility Nationals in Columbus this weekend. A excavator came out on Monday and told us that if we needed the work done soon we needed to get the deck down so they could start right away. He said they are starting to get very busy and it would soon push our work out late into summer. So no fun for us this weekend.

Too Much Work, Not Enough Play!!!
That's been our weekend. Friday night we headed out to Lowe's to pickup a new exterior door and an interior bathroom door. It fit just perfect in our little jeep. Then we planned on getting up very early and starting our project so we could have time to run to the camper show in Bloom that afternoon. I should have known better than to plan fun stuff around replacing the door. We ended up starting around 7:00am and didn't get done until 4:00pm. We couldn't get the &$*# thing squared. Poor Jason was getting so frustrated and I was feeling useless so I moseyed up to the deck and started removing boards. I ended up breaking 2 bits and stripping who knows how many screws. By then I was so frustrated I ran up and grabbed the sledge hammer and started banging away. After a couple really good swings :-) I was frustrated and laid down on the deck and just looked up at the sky. I had all these bad thoughts running through my head. "Maybe I'll set it on fire", "Maybe I'll attached a chain to my Jeep and to the deck and pull it down" (that was my number one). Finally, back down the hill I went all disgusted. I told Jason I wasn't removing any more screws but that we was going to take the sawzall and saw it down. We did end up getting the door in and squared. After that we both decided we didn't want to cook so we headed to OIP for my wonderful stromboli. Jason had a Philly Cheese steak that he said was one of the best he has had. That night both of us wanted to go to sleep by 7:00 but knew we couldn't because we wouldn't sleep through the night. So, we stayed up and watched Annapolis.
Sunday
Hons was going to meet us at Lowe's so we could get some drywall home for the basement. We was meeting him around noon so we had to skip church. We decided to go to the camper show, which didn't open until 11:00. BLASTED! So, off to Home Depot to pickup a few things. Then we went to Lowe's, got our drywall and headed back to the house. We relaxed for about 30 minutes and then it was off to dog class. Dog class was challenging but as always, tons of fun. Sam and Chase did very well and I'm totally looking forward to the show coming up in a few weeks.
Dilemma.....
Right now we have a dilemma. AKC Agility Nationals is in Columbus this coming weekend. It's normally really far so it's hard to get to without flying. This time it's only 5 hours away. Not only that, we know a few people competing. We had planned on going hiking in the Adirondacks and staying the weekend with our aunt Shirley next weekend but now we're thinking about skipping hiking and heading to Columbus. We cannot do both because the following weekend will be our show in Harrisburg. Being gone 3 weekends in a row and having 3 projects that need to be completed before July just will not work. So, now we're stuck deciding that to do. Agility Nationals, Visit Shirley and hike? Tune in next weekend for the results.

So I'm not too good at photoshop but I just had to do it. Trump card all the way.
Let's see, this weekend was also my birthday. As Carie stated in her blog, just last year we had a birthday party at Carie's house for Jacob, Chris and I. Good Ol' Carie brought out the slow boiler (I think that's what it's called) and she made us dinner. Not to mention that was the beginning of our Nertz Craze. Way to go Lauren and Chad. That was such a fun evening. The boys all found out about the party before I did. It ended up surprising me totally. Chris's mom came, Lauren and Chad was their, Clarence and Sally, all the crew. Oh, those we're the days. Anyway, on Friday they let us out because some more "BLASTED" snow arrived. Now last week was beautiful. It was in the 50's. We started to work outside, ahh, it was so much fun. Then Friday brought the stupid snow. So, my birthday wasn't all that fun. I had wanted to go hiking but that was out. Jason kept me happy though. We went to Front Street Bagels for breakfast and then drove to Williamsport to look at cameras for me. We ended up finding one that was on sale so I was very excited. Then we went to Quaker Steak and Lube for lunch. Oh how I want a "Lube Tube" but I can't see myself spending 80.00 on a beer bong. Of course I would fill it with Diet Coke but man, that thing is so cool. Then Sunday we went to church and went home and stayed home for the evening. We have too many movies at our house to count right now so we watched a few. One I really liked was The Holiday. I'm going to end up purchasing it once it comes out on previously viewed.
Let's see, Monday Jason worked until, well Tuesday. So I was home all by myself last night with all the furkids. They slept mostly at my feet and on the bed when Prison Break and 24 came on. They are all so good.
Tonight we had agility. It was so much fun. Jason and I thought we wanted to take Kenzie to the next trial but after tonight we realized that Kenzie really doesn't like agility like the others. So I think we're going to take her but not enter her. At least she'll be with us.
Oh, I also spent most of the weekend planning our Family Reunion in July. So much planned so far. Everyone is coming in on Friday. Saturday I'm having a cookout at our house and maybe we'll do some light hiking. Have to be nice to the old folks (sorry mom). Then on Sunday it's off to Gettysburg for the Reenactment. Monday we're heading to Philly to see the Liberty Bell and check out the city. Tuesday and Wednesday everyone is heading to Atlantic City. Jason and I are really not ocean people, at all, so we're thinking about skipping that part of the trip. Plus AC is nothing but casinos, boring. Then on Wednesday it's off to NYC. I booked our hotels at the Hotel Edison. I've also emailed the Sales Manager I worked with at Univar, Tim, to see if he could hook up a meeting with Maggie Gyllenhall (they are related). He said he would see what he can do :-) We're planning on touring the Empire State Building, Central Park, the WTC Memorial and the Statue of Liberty. After that everyone is planning on staying at my house on Thursday and leaving on Friday. I'm trying to convince them to stay just one more day for the annual Bloomsburg 4X4 Jamboree. I've heard it's HUGE and awesome. Since we're all hicks in our family it will be right up our alley :-)

First off Happy Birthday to Jacob! I hope you had a great one!
Now for the weekend events.
Last week Jason and I purchased some new sleeping bags. We purchased 40 degree bags hoping they would keep us warm and allow us to have a lighter bag. Once they arrived Jason and I planned on camping out downstairs. Our basement is extremely cold and we figured it would be the best way to test them out. So, Friday night we set out our camping pads and cuddled up inside our bags. I didn't make it long because I preferred to sleep in my bed however Jason endured a few hours of the frigged air downstairs. He ended up coming back up around 2:00am saying he was cold. So, we decided to keep our current bags and not have to worry about being cold when we camp.
Saturday we went out camper shopping. We had located a camper in Lewisburg that was within our CHEAP budget and decided to check it out. We planned on taking it home. When we arrived and they showed us how to set it up we were both very excited. It was old, however it was in excellent shape for the age. When we inspected it further we noticed that the canvas side of the camper was easily opened for emergency exits. Just one push of a puppy paw and our furkids could easily escape. We didn't want to take the risk so we declined to purchase the camper. After that it was out to Gander Mountain to check out camping clothes. I was happy to find out they had hiking pants on sale for like 15.00. That's a deal too. They unzip into Capri's, and also shorts. They fit my tush too so that was exciting. It's hard to find pants that fit my tush. Then it was off to Bloomsburg RV to check out the new campers. We've decided that if we do not find a nice cheap used camper then we're going to save up money to purchase a new one for our dog shows. Saturday afternoon once we got home it was time to work outside on taking down the deck. The people that built the deck built it very poorly and stripped out tons of nails, needless to say it's been quite a chore trying to take it apart. I was able to use a sledgehammer though and that was fun :-)
Sunday it was off to church and then a Meet the Pastor Lunch. We ended up meeting everyone but the pastor. We just need to take the time and introduce ourselves. I was able to finally meet Colleen, the Pastors Assistant whom I have been talking to through email for the past week or so. It was so nice finally putting a name with a face. After lunch it was off to Ricketts Glen SP for a hike. This happened to be the highlight of our weekend. We disobeyed the signs saying it was only open to Registered ice climbers and the Do not Enter tape but decided we would go as far as we could. The first mile was literally the easiest trail I have ever been on. It was awesome. Then we hiked up a slight hill to run into another flat section of the trail. Since I have trouble breathing when hiking up steep inclines I welcomed the easy trail. We arrived at the first falls with no problem and decided to continue our hike to the second. The second waterfall the amazing. Actually, words cannot describe what we seen, nor does the picture I'm attaching do it any justice. It was something we will probably never see again. We've decided to hike the falls as the same time each year to see the different ice formations. We headed back and then met our friends Stephen and Nikki from our church. I work with Stephen in my department so that's how I met them at first. Then we found out they also attended our church so that was really cool. They invited us to dinner at Mays Drive thru and we stayed for a few hours just talking and getting to know each other. The restaurant was closing so we finally had to leave. They are both really nice and I hope we can get to know each other more. We've invited them on our Shenandoah NP hiking trip. Should be tons of fun.
